I Dont Give A DUCK!

F/5.6, 1/1600, ISO 400.

Common Merganser ( Female )

Tom and Bob are talking:

Tom: “I managed to lose my rifle when I was in the army.”

Bob: “And…”

Tom: “I had to pay $1000 to cover the loss. I’m starting to understand why a Navy captain always goes down with his ship. ”

Interesting Fact: Often when one bird dives in a large group, the others follow the leader and disappear. They can stay under for up to 2 minutes, but they normally dive for less than 30 seconds. (Β https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Common_Merganser/lifehistory )

    • Yes that’s for sure, maybe that’s where the rock band haircut ideas come from different ducks. Hehehe. Thank you very much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. Happy Blogging! πŸ™‚

and she’s a real beauty – great photo man!

Seems like the shot was taken on quite a low angle – were you in a boat??

Your jokes are getting better! ( or i’m getting more accustomed to the humour – i’m not sure which?) πŸ™‚

    • Thank you very much, I am really glad to see that you enjoyed my work. I acutely took it from a car passing by a local lake with a telescoping lens. I think you are getting accustomed to the jokes. Hehehe. Thank you again and Happy Blogging! πŸ™‚

  2. Beautiful Merganser !! I’ve never seen one, but, through your lens I see the beauty of the varied size and shape of the gray feathers in contrast to the tan head quill-like feathers. Thank you for sharing. Jan
