Interesting Fact: Solitary animals, black bears roam large territories, though they do not protect them from other bears. Males might wander a 15- to 80-square-mile home range. ( )



  1. We used to live in Manitoba near Riding Mountain Park where there were a lot of black bears. Unfortunately they sometimes got too used to people, and had to be moved for the protection of the park visitors.

  2. I found out a few summers back just how quiet a bear can be when it is walking through the woods. The faint rustling of leaves made me think it was just a squirrel until I saw a full grown male bear walk right by me. A bit unsettling to say the least.
