Killdeer
What kind of rock can fly?
A rock-et!
Interesting Fact: Killdeer get their name from the shrill, wailing kill-deer call they give so often. Eighteenth-century naturalists also noticed how noisy Killdeer are, giving them names such as the Chattering Plover and the Noisy Plover. ( https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Killdeer/lifehistory )

I love the nice crisp images. Birds are notoriously difficult to capture – photographically speaking. (I know from experience LOL) Great shots!

We have many of these in eastern Iowa. They live by the edges of roads, and in tree lines. The noise they make is, as you say, shrill, and can be painful to hear over and over again. Always enjoy your posts.
