I feel bad for this heron, the lake is frozen. Imagine your refrigerator is empty and all the stores are closed. 😦

Another great post. We have a duck pond in my old neighborhood and every once in awhile we see a Blue Heron On it. It feels like a good omen, a good luck sign. My g’kids and I get so excited to see him. I saw him in flight yesterday.

Oh no! So, in addition to rescuing stray dogs, cats, baby hawks, possums, road-crossing turtles, I now have to keep an eye out for choking herons. How do you give the Heimlich to a heron, I wonder? (Disclaimer: probably not a good idea. Shore birds like this one can do a great deal of damage with their beaks. Please be cautious/aware of such when rescuing shore birds, etc. <–ex-wildlife volunteer)
