Interesting Fact: During the breeding season, you might see three Mourning Doves flying in tight formation, one after another. This is a form of social display. Typically the bird in the lead is the male of a mated pair. The second bird is an unmated male chasing his rival from the area where he hopes to nest. Lovely photo with really crisp details. I have mourning doves in my garden daily but “mine” are rather chubbier than this sleek bird. I think mine must get over-fed. Thanks for the Prince earworm.

This is the most common bird in some areas in the city I live. I never get sick of their call. Almost owl-like. Keep up the great work!
