I Am Hooked On Autumn!

What did the tree say to autumn?

Leaf me alone.

Interesting Fact: Evergreen trees will not lose their leaves like deciduous trees. Their leaves, also called needles, are covered with a thick wax. This wax protects the inner components of the needles, preventing them from freezing. ( http://www.richmond.com/life/celebrations/article_aa9e91de-402a-11e4-8c0f-001a4bcf6878.html )

Oak leaves have a waxy coating and they’re the last to turn and fall. They’re hell to hike on as well, the coating is very slippery especially when wet and they don’t break down as fast as maples.

Oak trees in New England will hold many of their leaves until spring!

Thank you for liking “Autumn Moon.” Nice autumn landscape photo! 🙂 One of the few things that I like about autumn are colorful autumn leaves.

I did not know about the wax on evergreen needles and how it prevents the needles from freezing. I also enjoyed learning something new from your post. 🙂
