Day 346 / 365
A guy bought his wife a beautiful diamond ring for Christmas.
After hearing about this extravagant gift, a friend of his said, “I thought she wanted one of those sporty four-wheel-drive vehicles.”
“She did,” he replied. “But where was I going to find a fake Jeep?”
Interesting Fact: Although the official Christmas tree tradition at Rockefeller Center began in 1933 (the year 30 Rockefeller Plaza opened), the unofficial tradition began during the Depression-era construction of Rockefeller Center, when workers decorated a smaller 20 feet (6.1ย m) balsam fir tree with “strings of cranberries, garlands of paper, and even a few tin cans” on Christmas Eve (December 24, 1931), as recounted by Daniel Okrent in his history of Rockefeller Center.[10] One claim is the tree had some gum wrappers and detonator blasting caps as decorations. There was no Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in 1932. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockefeller_Center_Christmas_Tree#History )

Now, that is one massive Christmas tree!
Yes it is. Thank you very much for stopping by and checking out my work. ๐
Is it a living tree that remains there and they just decorate it each year?
I wish that was the case, they get a new one each year for this occasion. Not quite sure what they do with it after holiday season. I hope that they put it back where they found it. ๐
Where do they find such huge trees? So that means they are cutting down huge old growth trees each year to use for a month? That’s sad.
I think so. It is sad. ๐ฆ
I’m still loving the jokes! ๐
Thank you very much. ๐
I didn’t know the tradition was started by the workers, but somehow makes perfect sense .. cause a living tradition ..a precious TREE wouldn’t have been though of by those who’s industries strip rainforests to raise cows so tightly packed together for big business meat and fast burgers .. that they can hardly move on miles of what was LUSH SWEET FORESTS but is now barren land
I have to WISH this season as always before … that more people see the precious LIFE .. the LIFE that is part of sustaining this planet ..sustaining US ALL .. and celebrate it more โค
Beautiful TREE โค & Great SHOT
Thank you very much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.
Such a sorrow to have lovely tree cut down in it’s prime for our gratification and not for sustenance. I don’t like Christmas tree farms either. We should be spending our resources on taking care of those in need. I am not against Christmas, but I am against waste and the commercialization of the holiday. My mother is depressed because she can’t buy gifts. I told her all you we need to give each other is our love.
That is very true and very well put thank you for stopping by and sharing with us. ๐
There’s such pressure on individuals at Christmas. It’s the one thing I absolutely loathe. I do Christmas in a very simple way and will not be drawn into spending a fortune on unnecessary food and presents. I’d rather make the effort to spend time with a friend and create a new memory.
Wow very well put, I agree. Thank you very much for stopping by and sharing with us. ๐
I love the joke actually…lol
Thank you very much. ๐
