Northern Mockingbird

Day 169 / 365

What do you call a very rude bird?
A mockingbird!

Interesting Fact:Β  The often observed behavior of birds flashing their white wing patches is still unexplained. Theories include it being used to startle prey or intimidate predators. ( http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/158/overview/Northern_Mockingbird.aspx )

True! These are fun little birds to watch, if they are trying to intimidate another bird, squirrel, etc…. They are also the “Texas State Bird”. Thank you for the post!

I love these little mockers, even if they do have a bad habit of singing their hearts out at 4:45 a.m. Thanks for the smile! πŸ™‚
