Common Loon ( Juvenile )
Did you hear about the crab that went to the seafood disco?
He pulled a muscle
Interesting Fact: The Common Loon swims underwater to catch fish, propelling itself with its feet. It swallows most of its prey underwater. The loon has sharp, rearward-pointing projections on the roof of its mouth and tongue that help it keep a firm hold on slippery fish. ( https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Common_Loon/lifehistory )
That Loon is smiling. Looney?
(Great catch – the photo – just clarifying)
Yes it is. Thank you very much for stopping by and checking out my work. đ
It also has a very distinctive call in the wilderness. I miss that sound!
I never heard that sound I will look it up. Thank you very much for stopping and sharing that with us. đ
Spetacular shot.! : o )
Thank you very much. đ
You’re welcome Lukas.! đ
I love loons or northern divers. So much so I use their call as a ring on my phone. At least in Central Park it isn’t a problem. Don’t often get loons there. It is rare in winter to get one on the reservoir.
They are amazing birds I never heard their call I have to look it up. Thank you very much for stopping by and sharing. đ
You may have heard it. Their call is used in lots of movies. Somtimes Inappropriately.
