Gray Catbird
Day 158 / 365
I thought there was a kitty cat stuck in the tree, but that bird definitely tricked me. 🙂
Interesting Fact: Their calls include the catlike meow call that gives them their name. Gray Catbirds are able to recognize their own eggs making them less susceptible to brood parasites such as the Brown-headed Cowbird.( http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/557/overview/Gray_Catbird.aspx )

This is an unusually beautiful photo. Congratulations.
Thank you very much, I appreciate you stopping by and checking out my work. 🙂

I’ve heard the term “catbird” but never realized they actually sounded like cats.
It’s so amazing how similar to a cat it sounds. I really thought there was a cut stuck in a tree. I appreciate you stopping by and checking out my work. 🙂
Can you shed any light on the origin of the expression, “in the catbird seat”–an expression denoting prosperity, being in command of a situation, etc.?
I’m sorry this is the first time I heard that expression. Not really sure what it means. But thanks for stopping by. 🙂
To be in the catbird seat means to be in charge, to be in a commanding position, to be poised to win. Maybe people don’t use this expression anymore. It was in common use when I was a boy–but then so were chariots and cuneiform writing.
Thank you for sharing that with me I love learning new things. 🙂
OK, here’s everything you ever wanted to know about being in the catbird seat ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catbird_seat ). I guess the expression is not as old as I thought.
Awesome thank you very much. 🙂
Thank you for liking “Mushroom Buildings” and “One.” Fantastic photo and post! 🙂 I enjoyed learning more about the catbird. I did not know there was a bird that could “meow” like a cat until I read this post. 🙂
I am glad that I can share that post and the information with you. Happy that you enjoy it. Thank you very much for stopping by. 🙂
You are welcome. 🙂
Beautifully captured! I wish I could see this bird someday and hear it’s cat like call 🙂
I am sure you will see and hear his cat call someday. Thank you very much, for stopping by and checking out my work. 🙂
