Great Blue Heron

Day 273 / 365

What holiday is observed by all birds?

Feather’s Day!

Interesting Fact: Great Blue Herons aren’t likely to visit a typical backyard. However, they are sometimes unwelcome visitors to yards that include fish ponds. A length of drain pipe placed in the pond can provide fish with a place to hide from feeding herons. Herons, like most of our birds, are legally protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. 1. We have a grey heron that visits our garden and pond every day. I just let it do what it wants to do as between it and the Otters, there’s plenty for everyone.

    • Wow that is amazing, I wish I had all of them coming to my backyard. Thank you very much for stopping by and checking out my work. 🙂

  2. I walk on water a lot. Usually in January, though. I remember a Blue Heron in Portland, Oregon. It used to go right up to fishermen and demand bait. If refused, he would steal some.

    • Wow that is amazing that must of been quite of a show to watch. Thank you very much for sharing your awesome experience with us. 🙂
