The Red-tailed Hawk is one of the largest birds you’ll see in North America, yet even the biggest females weigh in at only about 3 pounds. A similar-sized small dog might weigh 10 times that. You can see them all the time in the trees beside many highways looking for lunch in the cut grass beside the road. Unfortunately, many are hit by cars or trucks as they swoop in to low:(

I can sure relate to your post title today and am wondering whether your eagle is accepting passengers? We had a stressful week last week and a huge storm and then Paris. Flying would be fabulous!
It is a shame what is happening to this world. I would love to just fly away from all the worries as well. I’m curious — because you have so many great shots of birds with attached bird-lore — are you a birdwatcher or into ornithology?
I am none of those, I am just a photographer, taking photos of wildlife is more my hobby I enjoyed that very much. When I come home from my adventures I do enjoy looking up the wildlife that I captured. I hope that answered your question. 🙂
