Brown Pelicans
Do you know what the white stuff in bird poop is?
That’s bird poop, too!
Interesting Fact: Pelicans incubate their eggs with the skin of their feet, essentially standing on the eggs to keep them warm. In the mid-twentieth century the pesticide DDT caused pelicans to lay thinner eggs that cracked under the weight of incubating parents. After nearly disappearing from North America in the 1960s and 1970s, Brown Pelicans made a full comeback thanks to pesticide regulations. Brown pelicans are such cool birds. I’m glad that changes were made to pesticide use which helped the pelicans make a comeback. I always am grateful to those people who see something wrong happening and raise awareness so that there is the chance to fix things.
I know, they are amazing birds and it would be a shame if they went extinct. Thank you very much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us. Happy Blogging! π

Actually I had a think about this – the stuff in bird poo is actually uric acid which is very alkaline and so damaging to the likes of cars.
It so crazy how all this work. Happy Blogging! π
Thank you and Happy Blogging! π
We did something right, kind of, in making those changes against DDT. By kind of I mean, well, who caused that problem in the first place?
That is very true. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us. Happy Blogging! π
