Lightning Strike Over Hoboken

F/4.5, 13.0, ISO 100.

Day 162 / 365

What did the lightning bolt say to the other lightning bolt?

You’re shocking!

Interesting Fact: The average temperature of lightning is around 20000 °C (36000 °F). When lightning strikes the ground it seeks out the shortest route to something with a positive charge, this might be a tree, a tall building or if they’re very unlucky, a person. Honda S2000

Day 102 / 365

“Life is too short to drive boring cars”.

Interesting Fact: The S2000 was introduced in 1999 for the 2000 model year and was given the chassis designation of AP1. It featured a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout with power being delivered by a 1,997 cc (122 cu in) inline 4-cylinder DOHCVTEC engine. The engine (codenamed F20C) produced outputs of 177–184 kW (237–247 hp), and 208–218 N·m (153–161 lbf·ft) depending on the target market.[5] The engine was mated to a six-speed manual transmission and Torsen limited slip differential. The S2000 achieved what Honda claimed as “the world’s top level, high performance 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine” ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_S2000 )

Bald Eagle

Day 59 /365

And I was going to stay home today!  🙂

Interesting Fact: Immature Bald Eagles spend the first four years of their lives in nomadic exploration of vast territories and can fly hundreds of miles per day. Some young birds from Florida have wandered north as far as Michigan, and birds from California have reached Alaska. ( http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/bald_eagle/lifehistory )

If I can make it there
I’ll make it anywhere
It’s up to you
New York, New York

Frank Sinatra – New York, New York.

Interesting Fact: The first capital of the United States was New York City. In 1789 George Washington took his oath as president on the balcony at Federal Hall. ( http://www.50states.com/facts/newyork.htm#.VL8v7mc5Cpo )

Sorry For Mooning !

F/6.3, 1/250, ISO 100.

Day 5 / 365

It is a perfect night for watching the moon, or mooning, that can be fun too. ( Ha Ha Ha )     🙂

Interesting Fact: The moon’s diameter is about 1/4 the diameter of the Earth. About 49 moons would fit inside the Earth. ( http://www.moonconnection.com/moon_facts.phtml )

Stairway To Heaven

Bridge

F/6.3, 30.0, ISO 100.

Day 2 / 365

To some people it may look like a stairway to heaven, but to most of us it’s just a New Jersey Turnpike. ( Which is no heaven )

Interesting Fact: If you wanted to visit Bruce Springsteen’s hometown of Freehold, what NJ Turnpike exit would you take?  Exit 8 is Heightstown – Freehold. But don’t go to Freehold expecting to visit a Springsteen Museum – there isn’t one. According to an article by fellow Freehold native Mark Hyman in “Business Week” in 2000, that’s the way The Boss likes it. Apparently he wants things to be low-key and “normal” when he goes there to visit his old haunts. ( http://www.funtrivia.com/en/subtopics/The-New-Jersey-Turnpike-What-Exit-297450.html )

I Cannot Believe Another Day Is Over!

verrazano bridge

F/11.0, 1/250, ISO 100

This guy enjoying the sunset over the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is probably wondering how cold the water is and if he will ever make it across. Or he may be singing in his head a Britney Spears song “Oops!…I did it again”

Interesting Fact: The first driver to cross the bridge wore a rented tuxedo and piloted a “pale blue Cadillac convertible with flags flapping from the fenders,” nabbing the distinction because he had parked behind the Staten Island toll for a week, guaranteeing the position. The Sun Don’t Shine Forever, But As Long As It’s Here Then We Might As Well Shine Together

sunflower sunset

F/9.0, 1/320, ISO 100, Flash.

Maybe this sunflower lost all its pedals, but the sun in this photo made it in to the real sun flower.

Interesting Fact: A well-known sunflower characteristic is that the flowering heads track the sun’s movement, a phenomenon known as heliotropism. ( http://www.amazingandweird.com/facts/26-interesting-facts-sunflower-never-knew/ )
