Black-bellied Plover ( Juvenile )

I went to a seafood disco last week… and pulled a mussel.

Interesting Fact: Wary and quick to give alarm calls, the Black-bellied Plover functions worldwide as a sentinel for mixed groups of shorebirds. These qualities allowed it to resist market hunters, and it remained common when populations of other species of similar size were devastated. Thank you very much for stopping by and taking an interest in my post. I am not 100% sure but I believe that the market hunters are the predators that prey on this little guys. Happy Blogging! 🙂

Lovely photograph of the plover. We had a colony of plovers at the beach near my former home in California several years ago. Pretty little shorebirds. Have a great day!
