Killdeer

What’s the difference between a guitar and a fish?

You can tune a guitar, but you can’t tuna fish.

Interesting Fact: Gravel rooftops attract Killdeer for nesting, but can be dangerous places to raise a brood. Chicks may be unable to leave a roof because of high parapets and screened drain openings. Adults eventually lure chicks off the roof, which can be dangerous – although one set of chicks survived a leap from a seven-story building. ( https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Killdeer )

  1. Interesting info on killdeer and rooftops. Had not considered that. They come to my place but seldom stay since the grass grows so quickly in the fields.

    • That is so cool I wish I had them in my neighborhood, they are quite interesting birds to watch. Thank you very much for stopping by and sharing with us. Happy Blogging! 🙂

  2. According to REO Speedwagon, the same holds true for a piano! When the Killdeer nest in the gravel areas of the parks on the Eastern Shore, the rangers put up little signs telling people to stay away.

    • You are very welcome, I hope the 7 year old will enjoy it. Thank you very much for stopping by and checking out my post. Happy Blogging! 🙂
