Sandhill Crane
What do Snowmen call their offspring?
Chill-dren.
Interesting Fact: Sandhill Cranes mate for life, choosing their partners based on dancing displays. Displaying birds stretch their wings, pump their heads, bow, and leap into the air. ( https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Sandhill_Crane/lifehistory )
Sandhill Cranes are celebrated in my hometown of Alamosa, CO. We wait for their migration every year…
That is really cool, I wish they would migrate trough my state. I have to travel far to get photos of them. Thank you very much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us. Happy Blogging! 🙂
The Sandhill cranes in FL stay all year, and a pair were nesting at the pond behind my house for the last few years. It is a treat to see them ‘dance’.
That is so amazing, I am really jealous of you. I have to travel far to get a photos of them and each time I come across them I never seen them doing the dance. Thank you very much for stopping by and sharing your story with us. Happy Blogging! 🙂
The composition of the photo is fabulous. Love the neutral surroundings that enhance the birds. Just yesterday I saw a very large flight overhead. They fly so high, you have to really look hard to spot them after you hear the classic calls they emit during flight. (We are currently in an RV park in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas.)
Thank you very much, and I definitely agree with you about spotting them in the sky. I actually took this photo in near Rio Grande in New Mexico. Thank you again for your feedback and Happy Blogging! 🙂
Very nice! 😀
