Killdeer
What do you call a belt with a watch on it?
A waist of time.
Interesting Fact: Killdeer nests are simple scrapes often placed on slight rises in their open habitats. Killdeer may make several scrapes not far away from each other before choosing one to lay in. The duplication may help to confuse predators. ( https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Killdeer/lifehistory )
Killdeer have such a distinctive call. This one looks rather cold! Maybe that’s why its so puffed up. Thanks for sharing this photo, I have never associated Killdeer with water.
Thank you very much, it was a little chilly that day. I am glad to share this with you. Happy Blogging! 🙂
You have the best titles to your photos, I love the little killdeers, they walk so fast.
You are right it is very entertaining to watch them run around. Thank you very much for your warm feedback and Happy Blogging! 🙂
We used to have several killdeer on our property here, but then the skunks moved in our pastures and scared them off. I used to enjoy their little calls and their ploys. Your photo brings back happy memories. Thanks.
I am glad to bring you back some happy memories. I have to agree with you I also enjoyed watching them a specially when they are running around and they move their legs so quickly and how they pretend to have a broken wing to lure you away from their young ones.
