Interesting Fact: Chipmunks generally gather food on the ground in areas with underbrush, rocks, and logs, where they can hide from predators like hawks, foxes, coyotes, weasels, and snakes. They feed on insects, nuts, berries, seeds, fruit, and grain which they stuff into their generous cheek pouches and carry to their burrow or nest to store. Hey !!! I have a pet chipmunk named Hoover … you know … like the vacuum cleaner … sucking up all the seeds … anyhoo … Hoover is a resident in our backyard … he’s wild, but tame around me. He will climb into the palm of my hand … his whole body … I can feel his little hands and feet and whiskers and nose … sometimes he’ll climb into my lap … he loves the seeds I have for him … we’re pals … I watch out for hawks … I do … cause we have those, too. Oh, Hoover says, “Hi !” thanks for sharing … jan
