Brown-headed Cowbird
What did the stamp say to the envelope?
Stick with me and we will go places!
Interesting Fact: Brown-headed Cowbird lay eggs in the nests of more than 220 species of birds. Recent genetic analyses have shown that most individual females specialize on one particular host species. ( https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Brown-headed_Cowbird/ )
Pretty much featuring my most disliked creatures list – first with the chipmunk and now with the Cowbird. Not a big fan of the brood parasites of the birding world and this species takes full advantage of that. Always wonder what the conversation is like when the Cowbird baby breaks through the shell in a Cardinal or perhaps a smaller bird like a House Finch’s nest – “Hey, that looks like the UPS guy – you better start explaining honey!”
Hehehe. That’s great. I can definitely see this dialogue taken place. Thank you very much for sharing and making me chuckle. Happy Blogging! 🙂
Ha ha!
