Interesting Fact: During breeding season the Belted Kingfisher pair defends a territory against other kingfishers. A territory along a stream includes just the streambed and the vegetation along it, and averages 0.6 mile long. The nest burrow is usually in a dirt bank near water. The tunnel slopes upward from the entrance, perhaps to keep water from entering the nest. Tunnel length ranges from 1 to 8 feet. ( https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Belted_Kingfisher )

Belted Kingfisher was one of the first birds I remember as a young boy at a family vacation site. I still remember how excited I was seeing the Kingfisher landing on a branch, fish in mouth. Very cool image: there is a fish out there soon to be a meal!
That is a really awesome memory, thank you very much for sharing it with us. Kingfisher are so amazing, I enjoy watching them when I come across it. But they do get spooked easily so sometimes it really thought to get a good photo. Thank you again and Happy Blogging! 🙂
