Interesting Fact: These birds often stick to main branches and trunks of trees, where they hitch in classic woodpecker fashion, leaning away from the trunk and onto their stiff tail feathers as they search for food hiding in bark crevices. I see the red hat, but it’s hard to tell if the belly is red, too. Is it the same shade? It’s so bright and beautiful!
The belly is actually not red, it looks a little pinkish I would say. That is a question that a lot of people are wondering why did they name him Red-bellied woodpecker if the belly is not red.
