Osprey

What do lawyers wear to court?

Lawsuits!

Interesting Fact: The Osprey readily builds its nest on manmade structures, such as telephone poles, channel markers, duck blinds, and nest platforms designed especially for it. Such platforms have become an important tool in reestablishing Ospreys in areas where they had disappeared. In some areas nests are placed almost exclusively on artificial structures. A coastal restaurant in Maine has a long-running osprey nest on an outdoor platform. They also have a periscope? so that customers can watch the nesting activity and the fledglings learn to fly. On coastal Route One, it brings a lot of traffic!

In our area the osprey builds its nest on top of the steel structures that carry the power cables. These fascinating birds have made a remarkable comeback here at the Arrow Lakes region.

Think I’ve been the recipient of that look a time or two in an area where we commonly see
    nesting Osprey.

This is good to know! I actually watch an Osprey nest each and every year on top of a Target light post….always wondered why it would be here, instead of like a tree or something.

I learned recently that there’s an osprey nest on a pole in a shopping center 2 miles from water in Long Island. There’s a shortage of good nest sites.
