Flying High, High, I’m The Bird In The Sky!

F/13.0, 1/640, ISO 250.

Osprey

What did the fish say when he swam into the wall?

Dam!

Interesting Fact: Ospreys are unusual among hawks in possessing a reversible outer toe that allows them to grasp with two toes in front and two behind. Barbed pads on the soles of the birds’ feet help them grip slippery fish. When flying with prey, an Osprey lines up its catch head first for less wind resistance.  ( https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Osprey/lifehistory )

  1. They are indeed magnificent birds. In the lower part of SC we were on a boat wild-life tour. We saw the osprey’s huge nests. We also saw the mother fanning her babies with her wings to keep them cool. Thanks for the info about their toes. I didn’t know that. jan

    • You are very welcome, I am always glad to share my research. That must have been quite a sight seeing mother doing that to the babies, I personally never seen that happen. Thank you very much for stopping by and sharing with us. Happy Blogging! 🙂

I am watching a movie right now and that joke about the fish was in the movie…I heard the joke first and then as I was scrolling through your posts saw the same joke within minutes of hearing it on tv! Hmmm now I have to figure out what that means…who’s trying to tell me what! Anyways I love your posts and jokes…great fun and learning all at the same time. Thanks! 🙂
