Common Merganser
What did the pencil say to the other pencil?
your looking sharp.
Interesting Fact: Common Mergansers spend the breeding season in northern forested habitats near large lakes and rivers. Since they nest in cavities of large trees, breeding Common Mergansers are usually found in mature forests. They spend winters on large lakes, rivers, and reservoirs in the southern and coastal regions of their breeding range, and in additional wintering grounds across the northern and western United States. They tend to prefer freshwater wintering habitat over saltwater, but they may winter in coastal bays, estuaries, and harbors. ( https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Common_Merganser/lifehistory )
Living right off the Rio Grande River we see a lot of migratory birds, even have a “watch house” not far from home. Yet, your photos appear to be right on the water. Exactly how far out are you shooting? Great shots by the way!
Thank you very much, I use a 600mm lens so that helps me a lot with the distance. Also I shoot from the edge of the water or from boardwalks. A lot of times I hide behind objects and sit there for hours to get the shot. I appreciate you taking the interest in my work. Thank you again and Happy Blogging! 🙂
Love that pencil joke . It brightened my day!
I am so glad to see that it did. Thank you very much for stopping by and Happy Blogging! 🙂
Yesterday my wife and I went to the mouth of one of our local creeks. I took a photo of a merganser pair and wished I had your 600mm lens. Great shot!
Thank you, I am sure your shot was as great, you should post it. I appreciate you stopping by and sharing. Happy Blogging! 🙂
