Hooded Merganser

In School

Teacher: “If I gave you 2 cats and another 2 cats and another 2, how many would you have?”
Bob: “Seven.”
Teacher: “No, listen carefully… If I gave you two cats, and another two cats and another two, how many would you have?”
Bob: “Seven.”
Teacher: “Let me put it to you differently. If I gave you two apples, and another two apples and another two, how many would you have?”
Bob: “Six.”
Teacher: “Good. Now if I gave you two cats, and another two cats and another two, how many would you have?”
Bob: “Seven!”
Teacher: “Bob, where in the heck do you get seven from?!”
Bob: “Because I’ve already got a freaking cat!”

Interesting Fact:  The Hooded Merganser is the second-smallest of the six living species of mergansers (only the Smew of Eurasia is smaller) and is the only one restricted to North America. ( https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Hooded_Merganser/lifehistory )

  1. I have to agree with “Bob”, as my legs are being clawed by my ‘cat’ as it is climbing onto my lap as I type. . 🙂

  2. Ducks do have such personality – great pix capturing the social drama
(First batch of very fuzzy ducklings paddled out Easter morning. Real Easter ducks better than the pet ones)

  3. I had to do a double-take (well several of them really) before i could tell that you had not just drawn that duck’s (OK- that merganser’s) head on with a crayon tool!! 😉

I mean… seriously?? His head’s getting to big for his britches. 🙂

    • Hehehe I wish I was that good at photoshop to draw additional things to the birds it would make it fun and interesting. But sadly I am not, so I just have to catch them in awkward poses. 🙂 Thank you very much for stopping by and taking an interest in my post. Happy Blogging! 🙂
