Green Heron
What is the difference between a cat and a dog?
Dogs think, “Humans are benevolent, they feed me and take care of me, so they must be Gods.”
Cats think, “Humans are benevolent, they feed me and take care of me, so I must be God.”
Interesting Fact: The Green Heron is part of a complex of small herons that sometimes are considered one species. When lumped, they are called Green-backed Heron. When split, they are the Green Heron, the widespread Striated Heron, and the Galapagos Heron. ( https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Green_Heron/lifehistory )

We see Great Blue Herons frequently around here (northern Finger Lakes region of NY) but green herons are more uncommon. I think they mostly stick to the Southern Tier for some reason – – we’ll take time to watch them fish in the creeks there, because we’ve always wanted to see their reputed trick of floating bait out on the water.
Thank you very much, Great Blue Herons are amazing at hunters often when I come across them I observe them for a while. They are very patient. I really appreciate you stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us. Happy Blogging! π
