Interesting Fact: The male starts working on a nest before finding a mate. Then the female takes over and ends up doing most of the nest building, with materials supplied by the male. The nest is a shallow oval of loosely woven twigs, small sticks, grasses, sedges, rushes, and Spanish moss, about 14ā18 inches across and 8ā13 inches high. I’ve never seen a Snowy Egret so close before. This photo is amazing! I love the pattern of the feathers juxtaposed with the pattern of the water, the reflection of the wood stump in the water, and the texture of the wood stump. ( I’m not sure it’s a wood stump, but that’s what I’m calling it. ) The detail of the eye and beak is so very clear. Bravo !!! jan
